aboutME.

My name is Brad Saylor. I'm from Grottoes, Virginia and a graduate of Spotswood High School and James Madison University. In 2013, I received my Bachelors of Science Degree from JMU in Interdisciplinary Liberal Studies with a concentration in Middle Education in the subject areas of Mathematics and Social Studies. In 2014, I graduated (again) from JMU with a degree in the Masters of Arts in Teaching.

I've lived in the Valley for my entire life and while I plan on traveling the world, this area will always be home for me. One of my biggest passions involve sports of all kind, including, but not limited to watching my favorite DC sports teams (Redskins, Nationals, Wizards) as well as JMU and Duke University sporting events. I'm also a TV and movie addict...shoutouts to Netflix and Hulu. I enjoy traveling and being outdoors (when it's warm). I also enjoy listening to music of all kinds and watching hilarious, but pointless videos on YouTube and Vine. Most of all, I enjoy being with my family and friends.

I'm a very outgoing and friendly person who enjoys meeting new people, so naturally, and I'm excited to get to know each of my students individually and make our classroom a fun and inviting place, but also a space where learning can take place and be fostered in a nurturing, engaging atmosphere.

One thing I've learned through my coursework at JMU and being in the field teaching is that students are desperate for engagement in the classroom. I think the key to learning is finding what will pique a student's individual interest and help them to learn and be successful.

Throughout the year, I will be incoroprating technology, student interests, collaborative learning, exploration, and many other techniques to find ways to introduce the material to students in a way that will engage them and have each student take an active role in their learning.

It's my personal belief that any and every student can learn, and I hope to make our classroom a place where all students feel comfortable to learn and discover success at a high rate.

If you need to contact me for any reason, please feel free to do so.
